§ 00 — Frontispiece
Building agentic AI products1 — and the platform engineering2 that ships them.
I help teams move agentic AI products from prototype to production — and design the platform engineering underneath that keeps them shippable, observable, and safe.

About
I'm Chris Hilton, an independent consultant. I work on the software development lifecycle for the AI era — agentic products and the production platforms underneath them: shippable, observable, safe.
My current engagement is with RadiantGraph, an AI healthtech startup, where the work spans generative-AI services, voice infrastructure, HIPAA-compliant data platforms, and the release automation under all of it. Independent projects include a multi-tenant agentic platform, autonomous Claude Code runners, and AI security/optimization proxies.
Behind the recent work: nearly three decades on the platform side of software — through every prior era of build, release, and ops, with staff engineering at Affirm and Capital One, and consulting engagements going back to Apple and ThoughtWorks. Each era needed someone to turn new ideas into reliable production. Agentic AI is the next one.
Based in San Francisco. I take a small number of engagements at a time.
- 2025–PRESENT RadiantGraph · Platform engineering for an AI healthtech startup — generative-AI services, voice infrastructure, HIPAA-compliant data platforms, release automation.
- 2023 Zoox · Kubernetes / Helm / Crossplane platform work; GitHub Enterprise backup migration to ECS; analytics infrastructure across multiple environments.
- 2023 RadiantGraph · Initial engagement: HIPAA-compliant AWS architecture from scratch on ECS/Fargate, Lambda, and API Gateway; CI/CD on GitHub Actions and Terraform.
- 2014–2015 Apple · Enterprise-scale continuous-delivery pipeline using Mesos, Aurora, Docker, and a custom Groovy DSL for pipeline events.
- 2010–2014 via ThoughtWorks · Client engagements at Gap, Expedia, Shaw Media, and Hoover's — continuous delivery transformations across the enterprise.
- 1.Agentic AI — systems where LLMs decide what to do next, including tool use, multi-step planning, and orchestration.
- 2.Platform engineering — the discipline of building developer platforms (CI/CD, deploys, observability, evals) that turn experiments into reliable production systems.
